Tour de TWC raises over £1,000 for the Leg Ulcer Charity

On the 26th September Rachel and Amanda from The Whiteley Clinic Bristol cycled 126 miles to their head office in Guildford, to help raise money for the Leg Ulcer Charity.

They decided to raise money for the Leg Ulcer Charity because they have seen first-hand the effect that leg ulcers can have on people that suffer with them and by the end of the day, they had raised an amazing £1,126.88!

Rachel and Amanda were greeted by The Whiteley Clinic staff with balloons and party poppers to welcome them after their long journey! A very kind member of staff also organised a leave your lunch at home day, where she made jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings for everyone, to help with additional fund raising on the day. She also made a cake featuring Rachel and Amanda’s bikes!

Rachel and Amanda have said that The Marlborough Hills was a particularly gruelling challenge. As they approached they could see a horse box struggling to get up the slope and they knew they had a battle on their hands. They are very pleased with the amount of training they completed and they found the hills of South Hams in Devon and Bath, Somerset proved good coaching grounds.

A message from Rachel and Amanda…

“We are extremely grateful to all of our sponsors for not only reaching our target but doubling it. A special mention must also go to Dee at The Whiteley Clinic Guildford for the most wonderful celebratory lunch she provided. Since finishing the ride we have slept, ate and ached. We hope that the minor pain and endurance we’ve experienced will have helped in some way to highlight the far greater pain and endurance suffered by people with chronic leg ulcers and will help for an increased awareness of this debilitating condition. We look forward to another challenge with The Whiteley Clinic….or perhaps a relay….but maybe just not too soon!”

We are thrilled with the fundraising event and can’t thank Rachel and Amanda enough.

The money they raised will help the charity continue to provide the crucial support needed for people suffering with leg ulcers.
